SMC Away Day (19 Dec 2005)
We were quite good and got a bit of 'work' done in the morning; however, after lunch our Away Day turned into more of a 'social' event.
Andy & Howard's Retirement (28 Sep 2005)
Andy Hodges and Howard Carr both 'retire' at the end of September; well Andy is really retiring, and Howard has found employment elsewhere (where he hopes to get paid - ideally at the end of every month).
Formby (02 Aug 2005)
Formby (between Liverpool and Southport) is one of the few places in the UK where you can still see Red Squirrels. They are very friendly, especially if you remember to take them some food.
Liverpool (01 Aug 2005)
We had been looking forwards to visiting Liverpool, but most of it was a building site (don't visit until 2008 when Liverpool is European City of Culture). We did, however, have a very nice day on the 'Ferry cross the Mersey' (I bet that tune is in your head now?).
Port Sunlight (31 July 2005)
Port Sunlight is a very interesting place to visit on the way from Chester to Liverpool.
Chester (29/30 July 2005)
We have been wanting to visit Chester for quite a while now; and when we did Chester exceeded our expectations - The Chester Grosvenor Spa is a very good Hotel, and Chester is a joy to wander around on foot.
Beverley Races (26 July 2005)
Alison & Liam came for a brief visit; we had a good afternoon, even if we did lose all of our money, at the Beverley Races.
Sledmere House (22 July 2005)
Wendy's Dad and Stepmother came to visit for a few days; we were going to go to the Driffield Show, but got 'confused' over the date of the show, so went to Sledmere House instead - an excellent place to visit.
Harlow Carr (20 July 2005)
Wendy & I spent a pleasant day at one of the RHS Gardens; i.e. Harlow Carr (Harrogate).
Andy Chrysaffi's Retirement Do (7 July 2005)
Andy finally retired after 31 years of teaching at the Scarborough Campus; apologies for the darkness of some of the photos (I blame the camera) and the blurry nature of some of the later photos (I blame the drink).
Amsterdam (15 to 18 June 2005)
Wendy & I had a very pleasant short break in Amsterdam in June; a wonderful city with plenty to see and do. We walked miles and miles, but spent quite a lot of time time 'people-watching' from the multitude of bars and cafés that line the streets, squares and canals.
A Golden Wedding (9 Apr 2005)
My Parents (Ron & Maureen Perry) celebrated their Golden Wedding on the 9th of April 2005, at the Staincliffe Hotel (Seaton Carew). All of the original Wedding Party are still alive, although I had to cut and paste Eileen's head into the second photograph as she was unable to attend in person (special thanks to Aunty Joan for standing in as a 'body-double'). London (Mar 2005)
Wendy & I spent a few days in London in March; one day we went for a 'flight' on The London Eye (an excellent way to see London), then walked along the London Embankment (the Globe Theatre is a 'must-see').
